Hot for Coldplay

When the news broke out that Coldplay is coming to Manila, fans went berserk. I did not want to let this experience come and go. God put a smile upon my face!

When the news broke out that Coldplay is coming to Manila, fans went berserk. I did not want to let this experience come and go, so I saved money for the concert.

Adventure of a lifetime.

I almost gave up on the thought that I may never see them perform. When ticket sales reopened online, it went sold out again. I joined the Globe promos but winning it seems too far fetched. I scoured the web for scalpers, but they were overselling ticket prices at twice the amount.

That is until my step-daughter’s classmate offered her ticket because she can’t go. I learned, her sister knew someone who worked at SM.

God put a smile upon my face!

When I first heard, Yellow, on the radio (yes, there were no Spotify and iPods then), I immediately fell in love with its mellow intro and timely reverb to lyrics. And if you’re quick to notice, some falsetto to bring harmonic balance.

Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do, yeah they were all yellow...

Bronze tickets were sold for 3500 Pesos, General Admission for 1,800 Pesos , VIP tickets for 12,500 to 22,500 Pesos.

Coldplay’s first three albums were my favorite because it reminded me of college. It’s like a coming-of-age, emotionally charged soundtrack of my life. Like it’s pulled out of teen dramas. But when their fourth album (Viva La Vida) was released, I felt like they grew tired of their sedated tunes and went pop; rightly so when they collaborated with Beyonce and Rihanna.

But seeing them live is still surreal. It’s unbelievable! The experience was worth it. Too bad I wasn’t able to get merchandise. Too bad Val wasn’t able to join me and Maraya.
